The Midago Test
How do you measure quality? Have you heard of the World Wide Web Consortium (www.w3c.org)? It is an organization that creates web standards.WAIT…Don’t follow that link! It will take you years to understand that stuff. So, I’ve come up with my own non-objective test to rate your creative projects. This one will only take you a few minutes! With all the time you save, you can leave early today.
The Questions
1. Does your creative team bring new fresh ideas to the table?
2. Does your creative team involve technical, creative, strategic talents?
3. Is the right team matched to your project?
4. Do you have expert help to ensure quality?
5. Does the project reflect your company’s brand?
6. Is the project focused on business results?
7. Are you involved in the creative process?
8. Are you proud of the end product?
9. Are you getting complements and measurable results?
10. Did the project make you look good to your peers or management?
The great thing about the Midago Test is that these are simple yes or no questions. You don’t have to give any scientific personality tests or evaluate GMAT scores. Give your project/team 1 point for each “yes” answer.
A score of 10 is perfect, 9 is tolerable but 8 or lower and you may have some serious problems. The truth is most creative teams are running with a score of 2 or 3, and they need serious help, because your competition is teaming up with a qualified company.
Three Ways to use the Midago Test
1. Rate your creative project/team, and tell me how it rates, so I can gossip.
2. If you’re the manager, use this as a checklist to make sure your team is staying on track. If you rate a perfect 10, email me your ideas for next month’s newsletter.
3. If you’re trying to decide on a development firm, keep these things in mind because they will either make you look really good or have you browsing careerbuilder.com.
